The accordion and the human voice, combined with special sound effects and light shows, transform his performances into unique events. Recapturing the sonorities of his roots, Pohjonen’s music reveals traces of folk, electronic, classical, rock and experimental music, among many other world rhythms.

Pohjnonen’s music explores the new dimensions that can be re-established electronically using the accordion and the human voice as a springboard.

Pohjonen was elected Musician of the Year 2001 by the Union of Finnish Musicians and his work Kalmuk-DVD Symphony won the Teosto prize in 2004.

Kimmo Pohjonen Uniko performs on the final day of the MED, the 28th of June, and will be one of the most unexpected and surprising shows of the night.
