The owner of a distinctive voice that some say is “blessed”, Horace Andy is one of Jamaica’s best loved musicians. Typically throwing himself heart and soul into his stage performance, Andy has hits that date back to the 1970s and still make audiences buzz. He has remained at the top of his profession for over three decades, with hit after hit, making him one of the most consistently successful performers in the history of music.

Over the course of his already lengthy career, Andy has revisited his early hits on many occasions and, whenever he does so, the public and the critics always manage to find something new. A formula that means that every recording of versions of his new songs will always be a hit.
A self-acclaimed citizen of the world, Horace has already lived in a number of countries and moves to a new continent every decade. But his roots always show through in this performances and compositions and in his interpretation of every song.
In 2001, he was involved in the album Six Million Ways To Live by the British band Dub Pistols, winning over a different public and encompassing the fans of trip-hop.
More recently, working regularly in collaboration with Massive Attack, Horace Andy has been reaching out to younger audiences with his rhythm and voice, winning over the younger generations.
In 2009, he recorded From the Roots: Horace Andy Meets Mad Professor [Sanctuary], which he did alongside Neal Fraser, the well known British reggae producer who answers to the name “Mad Professor”, and which features songs such as Gimme What Me Want!!, Bingy Man and For Me. Newly recorded, the album will form the basis of Horace Andy’s MED 2009 performance on the 25th of June, in a show that will undoubtedly feature some of his classics.
